Name: Mr. Harrison
Four score and seven years ago our forefathers were fit! By and large, their livelyhoods were closely linked to hard physical labor. Somehow America, the land of plenty and overabundance, has seen its youth plagued with obesity and inactivity exacting terrible consequences.
Today's youth are bombarded daily with incredibly gripping forms of entertainment that burn no calories. Between the video games, internet, satellite TV and movies, it's a wonder our kids ever leave the house!
We all know by now that national obesity rates are through the roof along with increased diagnoses of types 1 and 2 diabetes, heart disease and a whole host of other physical ailments that are directly tied to obesity and inactivity.
The answer: rigorous daily physical activity! The mission of the SuValley P.E. department is twofold; firstly, by exposing kids to a wide variety of fun, physical activities they are more likely to pursue lifelong fitness.
Secondly, empowering students with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to manage their fitness goals after graduation enables them to lead long, happy, healthy lives.
So I implore you, the next time you sit down to jam a little Halo 7, ask yourself, " What would Abe Lincoln do?".
Please feel free to contact me anytime by phone, e-mail, or in person about any concerns.
