Special Education The office of Student Support Services Special Education Department is responsible for provision of services to children age 3-21 who possess disabilities. Specialized services are provided through the employment of over 300 special education teachers and itinerant specialists in more than 100 special education programs.
Project Child Find Project Child Find includes a screening to identify any educational or physical needs which must be addressed to enable the child to fully benefit from an educational program. Children with disabilities may have such needs which can be addressed though the District’s Student Support Services. Child Find screenings are a joint effort by the Matanuska Borough School District and the Mat-Su Services for Children and Adults.
Health Services The office of Student Services Health Services Department is responsible for maintaining optimal health standards, educating school staff in understanding childhood illnesses and promoting staff health. Heath services are provided at each school through the employment of 27 school nurses.
Moving to the Matanuska-Susitna School District If you are still living out of state please call and talk to a Resource Specialist (See staff and contact information for appropriate Specialist). If you have already relocated please bring a copy of IEP to Student Support Services.
